Unfolding through journal entries, newspaper clippings, maps, and other ephemera, his dark and complex puzzle tale explores the power of legend and zealotry in the small town of Corindon, Louisiana. Beginning in 1999 with a missing-persons expedition into the uncharted Charbineaux Swamp and moving backward in time over forty years, you’ll quickly find yourself deep within an engaging, intricate narrative in order to piece together decades of long-hidden horrors and occult conspiracies.
Will you discover the truth behind what locals call “The Lamania Witch”…or die trying?
What do I get?
Each chapter consists of a box full of newspaper articles, photos, letters, diary entries, and other ephemera, within which are multiple puzzles to solve that bring the player closer to uncovering the complete story.
How hard is this?
If you’re new to all this, it will likely be a challenging and perhaps even somewhat difficult endeavor. If you’re a seasoned puzzle enthusiast, it will be an even mix of fun and perhaps unexpected challenges. The puzzles vary—in one instance, you may be putting together the pieces of a cipher, while in another, you may be trying to determine a location based on a series of dates. All parts will require logic and careful scrutiny of the many items included. A hint system will be available via the Midnight Parlor website--and there's nothing wrong with tackling it as part of a group!
Do I need a computer, or can I play this online?
There is no digital version or direct digital components to The Lamania Witch (i.e. use of an app). An online hint system will, however, be available through the Midnight Parlor website, along with a Midnight Parlor Discord, and you may wish to use the internet to determine how to solve certain puzzles (i.e. looking up types of ciphers, etc.).
Is this appropriate for children, i.e. a family-friendly game?
While The Lamania Witch does not include sexual or traditionally 'adult' content, it does contain images and themes of witchcraft, folklore, and occultism that may not be appropriate for players of all ages. Use your good judgement.
So are these people and places…real?
A famous man once said, ‘I know the supernatural isn’t supposed to happen, but it does happen.’ Make of that what you will.
